Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Ilya Samsonov will be testing the free agent market, according to Sportsnet’s Luke Fox.

Samsonov going unclaimed seemed likely in light of his struggles and a $3.55 million cap hit. He can now be assigned to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies and attempt to figure out his game there.

Samsonov has allowed 12 goals from those areas over the last two seasons. For comparison, Woll hasn’t allowed a single goal from either side in his 22 games over that span.
