Pete Alonso had two home runs and five RBIs to help the New York Mets extend their winning streak to four games with a 12-6 victory against the visiting New York Yankees on Saturday.
Pete Alonso had gone 13 straight games without hitting a home run for the Mets so he made up for lost time by hitting two against the Yankees on Saturday and got that much closer to getting into the record books.

The Yankees are playing sloppy baseball, and the Mets already have slugged their way to a Subway Series victory before Sunday’s finale. The Mets thoroughly outplayed the Yankees again in a 12-6 dusting in front of 41,401 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in which the sun appropriately shined longer on the Mets’ dugout.
The Yankees also hit three homers, but they were solo shots, compared to the nine runs the Mets' homers produced.
In Saturday’s 12-6 win, the Mets’ fourth straight, left fielder Brandon Nimmo delivered the first blow. After Yankees starter Carlos Rodón loaded the bases on a double and two walks, he hung a slider too close to the middle of the plate, and Nimmo feasted. Nimmo pelted a grand slam into the Mets’ bullpen, 387 feet away, putting his team ahead 4-0.
Pete Alonso surpassed David Wright on one of the Mets' all-time lists during the team's 12-6 in over the Yankees on Saturday.
Pete Alonso will be in the All-Star Game, but he won’t be participating in the Home Run Derby. The first baseman has taken part in the competition four times and won it twice. This time, though, he said he values getting ready for the second half more.
