Eddie Genborg, the Detroit Red Wings' second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, played goalie before deciding he'd have more fun as a forward.

The Red Wings opened the second day of the NHL Draft by taking Eddie Genborg, a skilled, power forward winger from Sweden, in Round 2.

The Red Wings took a pair of left-shooting defensemen in the fifth and sixth rounds, adding Nikita Tyurin (6-0, 174) of Spartak (Russia juniors) and Will Murphy (6-4, 209) of Cape Breton (QMJHL). They wrapped up the draft with center Grayden Robertson-Palmer (5-11, 197), who’s bound for Dartmouth, in the seventh round (No. 204).
