According to MLB expert Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Cubs are still pursuing a trade for one-time All-Star pitcher Mackenzie Gore from the San Diego Padres. While the Cubs have already successfully negotiated a trade with the Washington Nationals, Heyman indicates that another deal for Gore is “ not close .”

The Chicago Cubs have made the long-awaited trade for a pitcher. The Cubs have acquired pitcher Mike Soroka from the Nationals, the team announced on Wednesday evening. ESPN and The Athletic were among the first to report the trade. Soroka signed a one-year, $9 million deal last December with the Nationals.
