As GrimbsyLive reports, there are a series of codes on the back of your driving licence under section 12. Ignoring them could lead to penalty points or a fine of up to £1,000.

Road users can also create a licence "check code" to share their driving record with someone, like a car hire company. The check code will be valid for 21 days.
