In a prime time address, Gov. Gavin Newsom of California sharply criticized President Trump for sending in the military to handle the protests in Los Angeles.

Newsom lambasted Trump, calling him a President who “wants to be bound by no law or constitution, perpetuating a unified assault on American traditions.” And he repeated his assertion that Trump was “fanning the flames” in Los Angeles “on purpose.”

Governor Gavin Newsom on Tuesday addressed Californians for the first time in the wake of days of violent protests in Los Angeles that have taken a global stage with President Trump's involvement of the National Guard.
